For those not aware of the last Master Board Meeting happenings, the BOARD approved a recommendation made by the Architectural Committee to redefine the NEW mailbox specifications to:
1. BAN any reflectors anywhere on the new green mail boxes, and
2. PERMIT metal screws not exceeding 2" in height to be epoxied to the top of the round ball and the top of the number
bar that connects to a copper wire no larger than 22 guage to prevent birds from perching on the number bar.

Now, I ask you, we now can not put reflectors on the dark, hard to see, new mailboxes that may prevent cars/trucks from knocking them over.(and it costs $270 to repair a new mail box that has been damaged by a vehicle)........ BUT, we can attach metal screws, 2" in height, and string copper wire so birds will not perch on the new green mail boxes (this was a special exception for the benefit of the chairman of the Architectural Committee). DOES THIS MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE!

The Board needs to call a hasty meeting and rescind this passed recommendation before law suits are filed.

Now, it is my understanding that the Board can not make anyone replace their old brown wooden mailbox unless it gets demolished. AND, the Board has issued no directive that those with the old brown wooden mailboxes remove the numerous different color and size reflectors on these mailboxes, and some of these old brown boxes have made other modifications.

Wasn't there enough controversy when the BOARD approved the new mail box standard. Seems the Board should have left well enough alone.
