I think we as a community are very fortunate to have a set time and day to go to the Club and address any issues that may come up within the community that we would like the board to address. This is something that most of us have wanted to see happen. It can't be done at a board meeting because the time is so limited for us to speak. This is a forum for all of us to come and let the board listen. It is not a place where we come and have to watch and listen to a board member argue with other board members when we "as the community" are there to let the board know what is on our minds. None of these people get paid for their time they are as we heard today "volunteers" I respect the time they give, I give them credit for taking the time out of their days to work on things in this community that make it a better place for "us."
The big issue has been Social Members, B Members what we are is a community. I have heard you don't know what it is like to be a Social Member. No, I don't because I don't look at anyone here as other then a member of our Community here at Countryside. With that said I did call the office and talked to Jeff. I asked him what portion of my yearly fee was for golfing. I was told that $1,604 is for our golfing and that $1,912 was for the common areas. That is exactly what a non-golfing unit pays as well $1,912. I have met many non-golfers at Binga, Karaoke, and lots of other events that have happened here at Countryside. I don't turn and say to my husband lets go we can't talk to them they don't golf. We have lived here for 10 years I did not golf until this year. Does that mean people gave me a hard time? No it meant we were paying for a golf membership for our household because we purchased a golf unit. I didn't golf and my husband didn't spend much time here until he retired this past year. We pay the golf fee because my husband loves playing golf and after many years of living here I now play and enjoy it. If we didn't golf we might not live in Countryside we might have bought in Berkshire Lakes. There are some non golf members that bought because they liked the community and the idea of having a club to go for lunch, dinner and special events held there. They might like just being on a golf course for the view. We all know what we bought into when we came here and what we were looking for a view, the golf course, the condition of Countryside, how solvent the club was. We came for all those reasons. Good choice.
If we have questions then we all need to go to the source of the answers and that is to the office. Today we were told the General Managers door is always open. Today I was told by Jeff if I have any questions to please come to the office and he would be more then happy to answer them. At the meeting today I heard a gentleman say we need to work together as a community in a "positive way" he was right. How many people would give their eye tooth to be where all of us are here in Paradise. Lets all get along.
