On numerous occasions, I have read comments regarding how social members are "unfairly" forced to pay golf course expenses ( trees, driving range) when they do not have full golf privileges. In reality, they do indeed have an underestimated interest in the golf aspect of the community. Non golf members are permitted six months of golfing privileges equal to those who pay full golf. They are thereby having a 50%amenity for nothing. The driving range is open to all, just as the tennis courts, pool and spa.
------(All members, regardless of who does and who does not use these still pay for them as well.) I have observed social members enjoying the beauty of the trees and golf course as their backyard view from their lanais. Here in Naples, views count for allot. I am sure it is much more pleasant and valuable to have this view rather than a road, buildings, or shopping center. Most probably, when social units were purchased, view of the trees and golf course, and a half a year of golf privileges at the expense of full golfing members was a positive. So paying a small share ( 1 /1100) in the maintenance of these particular assists is not unreasonable.
-----We all like to get something for nothing but since there is intrinsic value of these assets to all members, one should not protest so much. When golf members play, they are playing on the golf course itself - tee boxes, fairways, greens- not in the trees, unless they hit an errant shot! Golf would be a much easier game without trees. The trees are used by full golf memberships and non golf memberships alike - for visual beauty. The trees are for everyone's eyes to enjoy regardless of what ground they grow on. A good part of your property value is due to the maintenance and upkeep of all of Countryside.
--I am sure that whether you are a golfing or non golfing member, it would be upsetting if all the trees were somehow gone. This is why Collier County insists on tree replacement- not because it is part of a golf course, but because of what trees themselves mean.------------ Judy Olitsky
