Yesterday, my wife and I had a visit from a member of Countryside who had her daughter and grandson with her and the young man was a cub scout in his uniform and he was selling pop corn. We purchased some from him as did other owners of Countryside. This is a tradition that goes as far back as I can remember, our kids sold girl scout cookies and our son sold pop corn. We always went out of our way to support these young girls and boys and there were times we had girl scout cookies and pop corn in our home for months but we never said no to a child selling these items and we never will.
We can remember our kids doing the same thing and trying to be the biggest seller in their troop.
What bothers me, is a member did not like this young boy coming to her door where a simple no would have taken care of the situation and I am sure the young man would never ring her bell again. But this owner called the club to report a solicitation in countryside and the Food & Beverage Manager went out and spoke to the member and they stopped.
Most of us here in Countryside have children and grandchildren and I am sure have supported their cause.
Countryside is a warm and welcoming place and a small community and friendly community. I just hope this person can live with herself.
