The data provided in the commentary was meant to illustrate how we fit in with SW Florida CIRA’s, as well as provide a comparative analysis with “sister clubs” in South Florida, such as 501c’s. All the data referencing Southwest Florida CIRA’s represents the Naples greater area CIRA’s, which could also include Fort Myers. I do not have access to any specific club data such as Foxfire or Gleneagle. The information is taken from an independent auditor who gathers the information and presents it in a manner which is consistent and measurable for each club type. I simply do not have access to other club’s confidential financial data for side by side comparisons. However, I do have median, high, low and average pricing for lunch, dinner and bar menu items. I am happy to show them to you upon personal request. Please stop by the office.
--------Average SW Florida (Naples area) CIRA 2007 F&B operating loss: $357,000 Countryside: $358,000
Average SW Florida (Naples area) CIRA 2007 F&B operating loss per member: $370.00 Countryside: $317.00
Average SW Florida (Naples area) CIRA 2007 F&B minimum: $580.00 Countryside: $500.00
------Judging by the above data, we can conclude Countryside has more members than the average CIRA. Our operating loss is at the average. And the F&B minimum at Countryside was well below average for 2007.
----Minimums and operating losses are two separate concepts. Operating loss simply is the amount of money a business or department loses in a given time period. A minimum is imposed to leverage club members to use the facility, and in return you receive tangible goods. Minimums and operating losses are separate items.
----Any way I interpret the financial data, which is in a 30+ page report, I come to the same conclusion: Countryside is well within the local industry average for CIRA clubs. However, we need to continue to work hard at improving not only our financial performance, but our overall member satisfaction of the food and beverage operation, as well as the other amenities at Countryside. I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to call me at the club if you would like to further discuss minimums.
--Thanks to everyone for your feedback. I look forward to seeing you at your club!
