I’m a new poster to countrywatchdogs, but I will periodically post as time permits. I noticed a couple of good spirited posts that I would like to respond to.

The new aluminum lift arms on the entry gates are designed to “break away” when hit by a vehicle. Although this design will not prevent damage to your vehicle, it will certainly help reduce damage to both the vehicle and the lift arm itself. In addition, a reflective agent will be added to each lift arm as an additional visual aid. Your club has no strategy to “profit” from residents, guests or commercial drivers hitting the entry gates.

On a patriotic note, I keep a second flag on hand, so when the entry flag is in need of replacement, we have a back up on site to expedite the process. I saw a post a few weeks ago regarding the size of the flag. Simply said, the current flag size is based upon the close proximity to the Royal Palms. A larger flag is “wind whipped” into the trees, causing the flag to shred in a matter of days. Thus, we have the size flag you see today.

Regarding the restaurant and survey, I have just begun looking more closely at the food and beverage operation and evaluating the strengths and weaknesses. Although we want to keep our identity at Countryside separate from Carrabba’s, there is a lesson to be learned from the “cash house” side of the business. I will not pretend to have all the answers, but you can anticipate some changes within the dining operation over the next month or two. We are not going to turn into Di Julio’s, but your calls for variety and consistency have not fallen on deaf ears.

Have a safe and happy Independence Day. Thank you to those who have served our country so proudly.
