This is in response to Mike Lembo blog and the unsigned blog of Mon12/3/07 10:55am both concerning voting by the membership. The Association Documents
(the Declaration, By Laws, and Articles of Incorporation) very clearly define when the membership is required to vote on any issue. These documents are mandated by the State Statute and apply to all Master Associations. I am not aware of any action taken by any of the Boards in 17 years that have violated these rules. In addition, the Board can elect to have a membership vote on any other item that they feel needs one. These procedures by an elected Board are needed when operating an 1133 membership group with varying opinions on many issues. We elect them to do this for us, and recall provisions are available should we feel the job is not being done. In my opinion, all of our Boards have done the jobs that they were elected to do, and the majority of the members must feel so also, as I do not remember any recall efforts. By reputation Countryside is one of the best run Associations in the area, one of the most financially sound, and one of the most member active with the Presidents Council, the many active committies with hundreds of members participating, with facilities in excellant condition, a fine operating staff in the office, grounds, proshop, golf course, restaurant etel. Not all will agree with me on all items but think they will be the vocal minority. The results of the survey will be interesting !!!!! Ward Shaw
