I respectfully request that the chairman of the golf committee or the boards liaison to the golf committee spell out the rational for this new fee of $5.00 for people walking the course during the season. If the reason is to raise more money, then I am proposing that we also initiate a $5.00 fee every time someone uses the workout room or swims in the pools around Countryside. Every time one uses the driving range, a $5.00 charge should be leveled and this same charge should be leveled everytime one uses the tennis courts. Fair is fair isn't it? There are those who ride their bikes or walk on the golf course cart paths = $5.00; people using the card room = $5.00, mahjong players should be expected to pay the same $5.00 charge for using the club house and sure, the bridge players would be expected to pay the $5.00 charge as well. I am sure there are a number of other activities that could be added to this list and who knows, just maybe our maintenance fee can be reduced as our club collects ALL this money.
I, and I am sure many others, request that this $5.00 walking fee be reconsidered and dropped. If it is not dropped, then all walkers have the right to expect that a ranger is on the course until the last walker is off (added cost) and that the pro shop stays open long after it's usual five o'clock closing so that late comers can be accommodated (added cost). We also have the right to ask that the cart shed stay open until the last golfer is finished so that we can store our clubs there, which is another item we have paid for. (added cost)
I anxiously await for the rationale for this unnecessary ruling and I also respectfully request that people using this web site sign their names to their epistles. Thank you
Bill Herzog
